Much more balanced than yesterday's aolf coverage. Yay. There are many reasons to believe that this election was NOT a fraud or that the outcome was totally manipulated. Just like "follow the money," it is always helpful to ask "who benefits from the outcome?"

Based on what I know from our colleague on the ground I think it is both. I think Maduro lost the election.. no doubt assisted with US interference but he is genuinely despised by a majority of the population BUT... agree completely that the US is involved in regime change in the country as well... So its both...

Just wait till the "opposition" discovers that their beloved alternative to Maduro is planning to sell them and the their natural resources down the river. Who will they despise then? Gonzalez? The oligarchs? Themselves for being duped? All of the above? Time will tell.

Why is it that a country with huge oil reserves is in such a horrible economic state? Norway, another country with large oil reserves, seems quite stable. Why is that? Could it be totalitarian socialism doesn't work, but free market economies, albeit with a strong social expenditure, thrive?
