As a young person in the 1970s I had many encounters with cops, at a time when long hair and beards were red flags. I never experienced an escalation. Why? I was polite, and complied with requests from the LEF personnel. Now friends of mine who did not comply, or said "fuck you, pig" didn't fare so well.
Apparently this man did not see Chris Rock's video monologue, "How not to get your ass beat at a traffic stop".
