Since glyphosate is a broad spectrum herbicide, it is a also a bactericide--it destroys many commensal species in our gut like Lactobacillis bifidus, reuteri, and hordes of others, while allowing pathogenic species like Enterobacteracea to thrive. We humans carry more "plant cells" (Bacteria) than we have "animal cells". We depend on a balanced gut biome to maintain both over all health and mood. Disrupted, an imbalanced flora can damage gut mucosa, and open "tight junctions' in the bowel wall, which can lead to, among other issues, bowel disease, inflammatory arthritis, depression and anxiety, lowered immune function, and as a result, cancer.

In US grown wheat, Roundup is used to kill the wheat stalks at harvest time to speed grain harvesting. Residues contaminate the human, as well animal, gut. The rise in wheat "allergy" has occurred with the increased use of glyphosate. Italian, hard durum wheat is not sprayed with Roundup. Many people who eat Italian unsprayed wheat products are able to tolerate it, but not American products.
