I started smoking pot when I was 13. I'm 66 now and I've smoked and not smoked for years at a time off and on. Most of the time not smoking - otherwise, I wouldn't have gotten shit done. Alcohol is so immediately distructive it never really appealed to me. I remember thinking that my life would be a zero direction trainwreck if I weren't really good at quitting things: compulsive exercise, speed, cigarettes, binge eating, pot mostly.

But I do see how today's enhanced strains of marijuana and the derivatives like CBD oils, could become a problem - if the person had nothing in their lives to compete with it. All of these addictions are created and boosted for many reasons - but the biggest one is that there is nothing the person cares about more than the addiction. When I really wanted something, I could give up anything that stood in the way.

And now we live in a society that is being trashed on every level, run by willfully ignorant psychopaths, with shit for wages, and Tavistock programmed school systems cranking out heroic workers who are no longer needed... So the real issue is helping people find something to care about more than mental anesthesia every morning. How do we change a futureless society into a society with options for creating happiness for everyone?

Escaping pain and chasing pleasure will always find a pathway until the root cause is dealt with - and released.

Cannabis can be a good crutch into looking at 'a self' through new perspectives - Eg seeing where the social conditioning installed by others arises and triggers from, and other destructive, short sighted loops live. But it can also easily become physiologically addictive, if used for just escape from the 'same life' - and pleasure..

Still far better than what alcohol does to the body - and I'm not sure why its always 'smoking' cannabis, when there are a myriad of far healthier ways to ingest it.
